Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – A whole bunch of IP editors adding that the page is related to 14/88 without citing sources, this has been ongoing at least for today though likely longer. CommissarDoggoTalk? 21:12, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. EF5 21:35, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Yamla. Favonian (talk) 06:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Target of IP-hopping hijacker.  Sumanuil. (talk to me) 22:34, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) partially blocked: 2603:7000:DD00:226A::0/64 (talk · contribs) (from Michael Jacobs Productions). — rsjaffe 🗣️ 01:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's a dynamic IP. Blocking didn't stop them before. Sumanuil. (talk to me) 06:15, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent edit warring from IP users (who are likely sockpuppeters), inserting factually incorrect information. The article was recently semi-protected for one week, but the edit warring resumed after the protection was lifted. --oxmx (talk) 00:51, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Heartfox (talk) 00:56, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP vandalism Smart boy Ke (talk) 01:51, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: High level of IP traffic and harassment; Assassin's Creed Shadows released today. Relm (talk) 01:56, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Note: The talk page is drawing a lot of attention due to the articles own protection but I'm hesitant to apply a protection to the talk page unless it gets completely out of hand. I'm open to a second opinion on this so not marking it as not done. Seddon talk 02:35, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Seddon, it's not there yet, but we might need to apply protection for short durations if it becomes burdensome to deal with the traffic. Acroterion (talk) 02:38, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP editors repeatedly changing DOB without a source. Mellamelina (talk) 03:10, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This article has been repeatedly subjected to persistent vandalism by users who appear to be pushing a specific sectarian viewpoint. The edits often involve removal of sourced content, addition of biased material, and disruptive changes that violate Wikipedia’s neutrality policy. Despite multiple reversions, the vandalism continues, making it difficult to maintain the integrity of the article. I request temporary/semi-protection to prevent further disruption and ensure the article remains accurate and reliable. Naikvarsha08 (talk) 04:21, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

+1 Reason: This article is facing continuous, targeted vandalism from users who refuse to accept well-sourced facts. The repeated disruptive edits, including removal of verified content and insertion of biased material, suggest an agenda-driven attempt to manipulate the article. Despite multiple reversions, the vandalism persists, making it impossible to maintain Wikipedia’s standards of neutrality and reliability. Immediate semi-protection is necessary to prevent further disruption and protect the integrity of the article.

Reason: This article seems subject to low-quality edits from new accounts.

    • 15 March - External link, likely self-promotion.
    • 17 March - Blanked section to call it theft instead.
    • 19 March - Blanking and lots of uncited stuff. Possibly well-meaning but effectively vandalism.
    • 21 March - Strengths and weaknesses section entirely based around a single source that isn't cite-worthy. Possible self-promotion, and still not up to Wikipedia standards if it isn't.

Given this is a somewhat niche page, these edits and their respective reversions quickly make up a significant portion of the edit history. Giving it semi-protected status would curb all of this. Here for the one billionth edit (talk) 05:32, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Persistent adding of unsourced content from IP editors. (especially adding the name as Gali Batu and changing the goddamn station code). brachy08 (chat here lol) 05:36, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Nobody (talk) 06:11, 21 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Unprotection: 14 years of protection with little vandalism or disruption. Thepharoah17 (talk) 23:34, 20 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
